KENNETH (KEN) MOORE

BORN January 1942 WIMBLEDON, London SW19

Accepted into WIMBLEDON ART SCHOOL (part time) at an early age of 12 years and admitted Full Time at the age of 15 years, in 1957. Subject Fine Art Painting Intermediate and then National Diploma Course. Won two scolarships for Landscape Painting and sold works privately and to establishments such as OXFORD UNIVERSITY. In 1963 qualified with a National Diploma in Design & Painting from Wimbledon Art College, now Wimbledon University.

Passed the entrance exam in 1963 and was accepted by the ROYAL ACADEMY SCHOOLS OF ART, LONDON to study Fine Art Painting on a 3 year course during which time he exhibited works, for example, Young Contemporaries at White Chapel Art Gallery, London.

Won the Mural Prize in 1965 with an obligation to produce large panels of work for the R.A.S student restaurant. Also sold works to prominent Advertising Company (J. Walter Thompson) and Graduated in 1966 with Royal Academy Certificate in Fine Art Painting.

On leaving the R,A.S was selected with two others, by Edward Bawden a famous War Artist, to work on a large scale mural for 4 months for the B.P Shell building in London.

Whilst continuing to paint privately, was engaged to teach art to 0/ A Level students and up to College & University Level entrance in the State system, Private education, College & Art Schools.

Spent a 5 year period as a Graphic Illustrator working for large London advertising Companies such as ROYDS, DOUGLAS COLLINS & SAATCHI & SAATCHI.

Retired to France in 2004 to the village of LARROQUE TOIRAC, Ken continues to paint in his large studio. His present interest and focus is in abstraction and surrealism covering natural forms, trees and found objects which have been subjected to various conditions & elements.
